Morning Hike in the Ferdinand State Forest

Trees Forest WalkExplore the natural beauty and biological diversity right here in the Ferdinand area with the new Evansville area Sierra Club and the Indiana Forest Alliance. The public is invited to hike through Ferdinand State Forest with the secretary of the Hoosier Chapter of the Sierra Club, Bowden Quinn, the Outreach director of the Indiana Forest Alliance, Sandy Messner, and USI biology professor and Outings Chair of the new Southwestern Indiana Network of the Sierra Club, Eric McCloud.

The hike will be a beautiful 5-mile walk in late summer/early autumn. Along the way, hikers will see a proposed wild land consisting of older stands of trees and talk about the state logging sales policies that may result in the cutting of that forest stand. Trail conditions should be relatively easy and views from the fire tower outstanding. Hikers are invited to enjoy the Ferdinand Folk Festival after the hike. For start time, location, further information, and to sign up for the hike, contact Eric McCloud via Facebook messenger or via email at This email address is being protected from spambots.
