Ember Swift
Ember Swift, one of the Ferdinand Folk Festival’s main stage performers, will lead a workshop titled “Women in Independent Music.” The workshop will seek to empower female artists to seek excellence in their craft, to counteract the pressures from our still imbalanced Western society, and to approach their art as an entrepreneurial endeavor, something women are rarely encouraged to do in the music industry.
She also will discuss song components by analyzing famous songs, her own, and those of participants. She will discuss techniques for lyric writing, chord structure, band arrangements, and harmonic arrangements as well as general techniques for performance and the conveying of one’s message to an audience.
